Zongyang Jia of China was the first place winner of the Men's Aerials at the 2012 Visa Freestyle International at Deer Valley.

Dylan Ferguson, from Amesbury, MA placed second. In 30 FIS starts, this was Dylan's first time on the podium.  Congratulations, Dylan!!!

As anticipated, the Chinese women swept the Ladies division.  Mengtao Xu took first place.

The competition used the new Olympic format.  First, the field was qualified to 12, after which the field was reduced to eight.  The Super Finals consisted of four. In the new format, scores were reset with each round.  No jump was counted twice.

Book Now For Sundance Film Festival 2013

Grand Lodge at Deer Valley's Northside Lift
Park City accommodations filled to the brim this year with another successful Sundance Film Festival.

“Beasts of the Southern Wild,” about a six-year-old girl who undertakes a search for her mother in the southern Delta won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival 2012.

The Grand Jury Prize for documentary films went to Eugene Jarecki (“The House I Live In”). The film looked at the injustice of jailing nonviolent individuals for drugs.

The World Jury Prize went to “The Law in These Parts,” a story of Israel’s military/legal system and its effect on the Palestinian population.

“The Invisible War,” a story about Kirby Dick’s investigation of sexual assault in the US military, and “The Surrogate,” a story about a journalist in an iron lung who sets out to lose his virginity, won the Audience Award.

“Valley of the Saints” and “Searching for Sugar Man” won The World Cinema Audience Award.
“Sleepwalk With Me” took the Best of the NEXT award. The film is about a standup comedian’s struggle with………well, we will just wait and let you see the film yourself.

A number of popular pictures went home empty-handed, but still stand a shot of connecting with mainstream audiences thanks to the exposure provided by the Sundance Film Festival 2012.

It is not too early to start thinking about 2013! Let us know if we can assist with Sundance Film Festival lodging for next year. Contact us at Info@vacation-quest.com or (877) 808-6872

Deer Valley Rentals by Vacation Quest, Inc.

In 2010/2011, Deer Valley resort was named the #1 ski resort in North America by the readers of SKI magazine for the fourth year in a row.

In the past 10 years, Deer Valley has never been rated lower than third.

It was #2 in 2001/2002, #3 in 2003/2004, #2 in 2004/2005, and #2 in 2006/2007. All the other years, it was numero uno!

Expectations are high again this year for a top overall ranking for Deer Valley. Ski Deer Valley and you won't be disappointed.

Aside from always being ranked at the top overall, it is consistently on top for grooming, service, access, on-mountain food, lodging and dining, lifts, weather, and family programs.

SKI magazine surveys approximately 20,000 of its readers for its Top Resort Guide using an independent research firm. SKI magazine’s survey is the most comprehensive and longest running in the ski industry.

But here is the best kept secret. The expert ungroomed terrain is not heavily skied like Park City and Canyons. After a good 2' to 3' storm, you can usually find powder stashes in the Mayflower Bowl or around the Lady Morgan area for 2-3-4 days.

With 3 ski areas within 5 miles of each other, Park City lodging and Deer Valley lodging is tricky. For help from local experts, call us at (877)808-6872 or Info@Vacation-Quest.com

Fireside Dining at Empire Canyon Lodge

Empire Canyon Lodge
Fireside Dining at Empire Canyon Lodge
Empire Canyon Lodge in upper Deer Valley offers a signature dining experience called "Fireside Dining."

There are five large fireplaces in the lodge.  At each fireplace they cook and serve foods that will make you think you are in the European Alps!

Food at one fireplace includes raclette cheese with steamed new potatoes, pearl onions, cornichons, cured Italian and Swiss meats, and freshly baked veggies.  At another fireplace there is stew and fricasses along with fresh salads.  You will find fire roasted meats brushed with herbs and seasonings at another fireplace. And, finally, there is a fondue desert fireplace.  Makes me hungry just thinking about it.

Fireside Dining is highly popular, so make your reservations in advance.

Fireside Dining happens 6 pm to 9 pm Wednesday through Saturday.  You can call 435-645-6632 for reservations.

Park City Dining at 350 Main

350 Main - Park City Dining
Dining at 350 Main in Park City
Don't miss 350 Main on your next Park City vacation.  350 Main offers unique starters and some of the best entrees you will find in Park City.

Try the ahi tuna tower, hand made ravioli, or lobster bisque for a starter.  My favorite entree is the venison medallions (New Zealand and not gamey) but when I am in the mood for fish I go for the Ono Ono.

The atmosphere is always perfect. The lighting is not too bright and not too low.  The restaurant is a white table cloth environment.

Service is always excellent and the wait staff talks about the food from first hand experience.

Appetizers start in the low teens and entrees are mid $30s.  350 Main is not cheap, but you certainly value for your dollar.

Another attractive aspect of 350 Main is the bar area which is within the main dining room.  The ambiance is active and warm.

Mariposa Restaurant in Silver Lake at Upper Deer Valley

The Mariposa
Mariposa Restaurant at Silver Lake Village in Upper Deer Valley
One of my favorite sayings when it comes to dining is that "the best places are always the worst."

Many times you will go to a fine dining restaurant and be served a signature entree that can fit into a thimble or has some exotic sauce/garnish that would choke a horse.

Mariposa Restaurant is the exception.

Excellent food, perfect service, great ambiance, good wine are probably why Mariposa is rate #1 in the Zagat Restaurant Guide!

It is open 5:45 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday through Sunday - call (435) 645-6715 to reserve.
If we at Vacation Quest can assist you, our phone is (877) 808-6872.

Park City Lodging

Park City Lodging view from Quincey Lift
Park City Lodging
With 3 ski areas, finding the right Park City lodging can be a tricky business.

The Canyons is located about 5 miles north of Park City proper. If you are staying at the Canyons, you will need a car if you want to do the Park City nightlife or ski at either Park City Mountain Resort or Deer Valley Resort.

If you are going to do Park City without a car, make sure you understand the exact location of the unit in relation to the ski area of choice or to the bus line.

The bus service to the ski areas is great, however, if you are going from the Deer Valley area to the Park City area, you will likely have to make a transfer at Park City's transfer station. Many folks find the transfer hassle and time required a big detractor.

Some condos in lower Deer Valley offer door-to-door complimentary shuttle service to the Deer Valley ski area. This type of service is extremely convenient and generally there is no premium on the rent rate.

We can help you find a Park City condo or home that suits your needs. Call (877) 808-6872 or info@Vacation-Quest.com.
